While being in quarantine the past couple of months, I have taken it upon myself to finally figure out how to manage my curly hair! Before I made my finalized routine, I would always use the wrong products for my hair! I am so glad I put in the effort to figure out this amazing routine to share with you all! These products leave my hair feeling refreshed and defined. For reference, I have 2c\3a curls. Email me or comment any items you think I should try, as well as the products you use for your curly hair routine! I would love to know:-) Xoxo Giulia

Step 1: Shampoo and Conditioner

I have been using the Not Your Mother’s Curl Defiining Shampoo and Conditioner for a few months. I truly feel like these products have transitioned my hair into luscious, bouncy curls!! Every time I use these products, I notice how defined my curls are. The shampoo suds up (which I LOVE for shampoo) and the conditioner has a great slip to it! I also love that these products are Paraben, Sulfate, Phthalate, AND CRUELTY FREE!!! Not to mention, these products smell absolutely amazing!! This is my second time repurchasing them. I know not everything works for everyone, but I truly think everyone should go give these products a try! I prefer to leave a little bit on the conditioner in my hair to mimic a leave-in. I find it is very easy to detangle my hair when I do this! I will update this post if I find a shampoo and conditioner I like better!!
Step 2: Apply Argon Oil

This hair oil has been my HOLY GRAIL forever!! But, I would like to say if your hair is on the dryer side, I recommend using a detangler such as this (OR you could use both if you have more damaged hair like me). Anyway, this product is the best if you need moisture and shine in your hair. I apply a couple sprays across the mid/ends of my hair. When I use this I can immediately tell my hair is more shiny and hydrated. This product has also helped me repair my split, damaged ends that were caused by straightening. I will say that you shouldn’t apply too much or your hair will feel a bit oily. BUT, I love how simple and easy this product is for my hair. You could also add a bit of this oil after you diffuse your hair to decrease frizz. If you haven’t already, everyone with dryer hair should go to your local drugstore and pick this oil up!!
Step 3: Brush out hair using Tangle Teezer
Ultimate Detangler Hairbrush • Tangle Teezer • $14
I do not have a picture of this brush at the moment so I linked it! But, I heard about this brush from YouTuber Jayme Jo. Once I finally decided to purchase this product, I instantly fell in LOVE!! I’ve never had a brush that detangles as good as this one does. Again, I have 2c/3a curls. The bristles on the brush are SO GENTLE too!! Say bye bye to all the pain you get from brushing your hair! I recommend anyone with any type of hair to try this product out!!
Step 4: Use Gel

Once I brush out my hair I like to take a quarter size amount of this gel, then flip my head over, and scrunch this product all throughout my hair. I also like how this gel is more of a lightweight and thin texture. This gel leaves my hair looking defined and frizz-free without weighing my hair down. A good dupe for this product is the Uncle Funky’s Daughter Curly Magic Curl Stimulator. These products both work very well and leave your hair looking amazing during the hot days!!
Step 5: Use Denman Brush and SCRUNCH!!

Lastly, I like to use the Denman Brush to really define my curls after I go in with my gel. But, there is a specific way I like to brush my hair using this brush. I will link the video HERE (go to 4:44 – 7:55). For the rest of my routine, I follow the exact steps this YouTuber does!! It takes practice but it is very easy to get the hang of! Also, you could use any blow dryer and diffuser you would like to dry your hair. I recommend you also do the same technique the girl is doing for blow drying as well!!
Overall, I hope you all enjoyed reading how I style my curly hair! If you would like to purchase any of these products, I would greatly appreciate if you could use the link provided to order them!! No pressure whatsoever though:) I recommend everyone to try these out if you need help bettering your curls.
